Sunday School at First Romanian Pentecostal Church of Kenmore, Washington, USA, is first of all, a place where Christian teaching is promoted and where the Bible is taught in a manner understandable to the children. This special department for education of children between the ages of 2 and 12 years follows not only a theoretical biblical education but also pointed to achieve the ultimate goal of any Christian education, namely that children discover Him and know Jesus Christ as Lord And Savior. Also Sunday School at FRPC is intended to be an environment for the development of the interpersonal relationships between: students, teachers, parents, volunteers and church members. This is facilitated by consistent collaboration between teachers and elders of the church with encouraged parental involvement in the mental and spiritual formation of their children.
Over 100 children attending Sunday lessons are guided on the path of spiritual growth through a curriculum used by certain American churches, but at the same time, calling forth the creativity of our teachers and adapted to the specific needs of children from our Romanian families. Both languages, Romanian and English, are combined harmoniously to fit the various needs of this Romanian community situated in the United States. In addition to the biblical lessons, which are without a doubt important there is special attention given to prayer, and song that we believe are core components of spiritual growth. Christian songs, poems, poetry, plays and simple moments of prayer are for us and our children acts of worship before our Lord and are platforms for encouraging effective public service as well. Extracurricular activities such as outdoor excursions, retreats for children, walks in the city or love banquets are designed to link the team of teachers, to secure relationships between children and bring moments of relaxation and rest to both children and teachers.
What the Word of God has to say in regards to educating our children:
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6
Along with the education that children receive in their familes, Sunday School offers children a unique setting in which, like clay, to shape their character, and then, some children even take the first steps on the path of faith, deciding to follow Christ and receive a vision to become the workers of tomorrow. May God bless all our children!
